The article explores the fascinating world of high-energy physics and the role of innovative accelerator concepts. Within the framework of the I.FAST project, this also involved the generation of fast single electrons at gigahertz repetition rates for the search for dark matter using dielectric laser accelerators. At a workshop entitled “Gigahertz Rate and Rapid Muon Acceleration”, which took place in Bern in December 2023, experts met to discuss the latest developments in these and related fields and the constant quest for progress in accelerator science.
