Exactly 60 years ago, Theodore Maiman was the first person to generate flashes of laser light. How far we have come in laser-based research since then was compiled by Stewart Wills in a very nice article for the May issue of the free magazine “Optics and Photonics News”. Our ACHIP project is featured there in the form of an interview with one of the laser pioneers and ACHIP co-spokesman Professor R. L. Byer. Worth reading! See page 33 here.
