The University of Erlangen promotes action against climate change by application of modern infrastructure based on renewable energies and zero emission mobility. At the chair of Laser Physics a roof top photovoltaics system was installed six years ago, making that location ideal to install charging infrastructure for electric vehicles (EV). Now, a charging point for two EVs has been installed that can be extended to up to five charging points in the future. The fossil free energy of the photovoltaics system will be sufficient to supply electricity to up to 20 employees of the university for their commute to their office.

The new charging system will be officially opened together with the mayor of the city of Erlangen on July 18th.
