Ankündigung des Promotionsvortrags von: Herrn Klaus Götz
The functionality of nanostructured surfaces is closely tied to their precise structure. Therefore, a detailed understanding of the atomic and molecular interactions that occur during fabrication is central to the further development of these materials. The defense talk will provide insight into two such systems.
The first system involves TiO₂ surfaces functionalized with dye molecules, which can be used in dye-sensitized solar cells. The focus here is on coating the TiO₂ surfaces with stabilizing mole-cules and subsequently replacing them with molecular dyes. The first step of coating with stabilizer molecules is intended to serve as a model system for the surface of nanoparticles.
The second system consists of atomically defined layers of transition metal dichalcogenides on self-assembled monolayers of functionalized organic molecules. Particular focus here is on the nucleation behavior of SnS₂ on 3-mercaptopropyl-trimethoxysilane (MPTMS) within the framework of so-called solution-based atomic layer deposition (sALD). This technique enables the synthesis of atomic layers from a wet chemical system.
X-ray reflectometry was chosen as the primary method for analyzing these systems. This tech-nique allows the contributions of the various molecular components to the electron density profile to be extracted, thereby enabling quantitative statements about the exact structure of the layers.
